See what our guests have said about their Crab Island Journeys Trip!
We were stuck between renting our own boat or paying for a captain to drive, we had a large group with us. We decided to go with Crab Island so our large group could ride together. Crab Island Journeys assured us we could book our large group with them. It was the best decision and way more fun. We were all together, no one had to be the driver, and everyone had a blast!
From beginning to end we had fun. Crab Island Journeys is a must for anyone looking for a good time.
We are extremely lucky that the days here on the Emerald Coast look
exactly like the beautiful photos and videos you see on the web.
However, there are times when our journeys are influenced by Mother
Nature. Most days are clear and the water is this amazing aquamarine or
emerald green in color. However, other days they are not. Wind, waves,
tides, clouds, rain and sea life contribute to it.
Advance reservations are required due to limited seat availability and peak booking dates and times. All bookings must go through the website. We do require a minimum number of seats to run a trip. If the minimum number is not met, the tour will be rescheduled. All reservations must be made on the site. We will not accept payment at the dock.
Crab Island is on the Northern side of the Destin Bridge. What used to be an island is now a sandbar submerged underwater from 1 - 4 feet deep. There is no land meaning our captain, and crew will stay with you for the duration of your time.
Pack the same thing you would for the beach or a day by the pool. Whatever you do bring should be able to sit on your lap in a carry-on bag. Parties can bring 2 large coolers for the trip. Food, drink, and alcohol are allowed to be brought on the boat. No Glass bottles, please. Minimum age is 21 for alcohol consumption. Please follow the law. Area law enforcement does check for this. Beverages are available for purchase at check-in and there are many options at Crab Island, as well.
Crab Island is a submerged sandbar. For safety reasons and due to U.S. Coast Guard regulations, we cannot drop you off in the middle of the water and leave you there. Our Captain and crew will stay with you for the duration of the journey. If you would like to spend a longer day at Crab Island, then we recommend renting from True Blue Pontoons for an all day excursion.
The ride to Crab Island is about 20 minutes along the Intercoastal Waterway and the beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay. It is a great way to enjoy a boat ride and have fun at Crab Island, too!
Yes. But, children 2 & under ride for free. The United States Coast Guard counts every individual on the boat as a passenger. Legally, we can carry a maximum number of passengers as provided to us during our inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard. We are also bound by a weight maximum capacity limitation. For example: if the total weight of a family of 5 exceeds more than 1000 lbs, then please let us know, so we can block off the additional seats to account for the weight limit on the boat.
Yes, the boat is completely covered.
The vendors at Crab Island are separate businesses and are NOT included in the ticket price.
Only trained, official service dogs are allowed on the boat. The passenger with the service dog must stay with the animal for the entire duration of the trip. This is to ensure the safety of the guest and the safety dog, as well as, other passengers, the Captain and crew. Crab Island Journeys is not responsible for any mishaps that could occur with an unattended animal.
